Stability AI adds image editing and music generation to Stable Assistant

Published Reach 35

Stability AI just updated its Stable Assistant chatbot with two major creative tools: Search & Replace and music generation. Users can now seamlessly swap specific objects inside uploaded images, or generate full-length instrumental tracks up to three minutes long via Stable Audio 2.0 at 44.1 kHz stereo. It essentially turns the assistant into an all-in-one multimodal workstation, backed by a 3-day free trial.

Editing a specific detail in an AI image used to mean tedious Photoshop work or endless prompt tweaking that usually ruined the rest of the picture. Stability AI is trying to fix that friction directly inside its chatbot.

Stability AI announced two new features for Stable Assistant: a Search & Replace tool for targeted image editing, and built-in music generation powered by Stable Audio.

An all-in-one creative cockpit

The most practical addition is Search & Replace. Users can upload their own images, point out an existing object, and swap it for something else without altering the overall composition or lighting.

For creative professionals, that means fixing a prop or tweaking a detail without having to reroll an entire prompt from scratch.

Meanwhile, the assistant is also gaining an ear for music. Through Stable Audio 2.0, the chatbot can now generate full-length instrumental tracks up to three minutes long at 44.1 kHz stereo.

Stability AI noted that the audio model was trained on a licensed dataset from the AudioSparx catalog, addressing copyright concerns right out of the gate.

These additions join an already packed suite. Stable Assistant already handles image upscaling, outpainting, image enhancement, background removal, sketch-to-image, and video generation from text or stills via Stable Video Diffusion.

Stability AI is currently offering a three-day free trial for users who want to test the expanded workflow.

Why it matters

Generative AI interfaces are shifting rapidly from standalone prompt generators into full-stack production suites.

We think adding Search & Replace is the smartest move here. In professional design workflows, full-image regenerations are a headache because they destroy consistency. Precise, localized edits are what actually turn AI from a toy into a real production tool.

Pairing that with three-minute audio tracks creates a compelling lightweight pipeline for content creators who need custom visuals and background tracks in one sitting.

The challenge, however, is quality across the board. When you position a chatbot as a one-stop shop for images, video, and audio, users naturally compare each module to category leaders like dedicated video or audio tools.

Still, by emphasizing licensed training data for audio and focusing on structural image control, Stability AI is clearly aiming to give commercial creators fewer reasons to leave its ecosystem.
