Stability AI drops Stable Video 4D for multi-angle video generation

Published Reach 40

Stability AI just launched Stable Video 4D, an open-source model that turns a single video into eight novel-view videos. It generates 5 frames across 8 camera perspectives in about 40 seconds, streamlining dynamic 3D optimization for game development and video editing. The weights are live on Hugging Face.

Stable Video 4D (SV4D) is an open-source model that takes a single-angle object video and transforms it into dynamic novel-view videos from eight different camera perspectives at once.

Beyond generating multi-angle views, the outputs can be used to optimize a complete dynamic 3D representation of the subject in about 20 to 25 minutes, bridging the gap between 2D video and 4D assets.

What it does

The workflow is straightforward. You upload a video featuring a single object and specify your target 3D camera poses based on your creative needs.

With a single inference run, SV4D delivers 5 frames across 8 distinct views in roughly 40 seconds. Users have full control over camera positions to inspect or showcase the subject from all sides.

These synchronized multi-view clips then feed into a lightweight optimization pipeline, creating a dynamic 3D digital asset without requiring manual frame-by-frame 3D rigging or tracking.

How it works

Built on top of Stable Video Diffusion, SV4D marks Stability AI's first true video-to-video diffusion model.

Traditional approaches to novel-view dynamic synthesis usually stitch together multiple models, juggling image diffusion, video diffusion, and multi-view diffusion simultaneously. That setup relies heavily on score distillation sampling (SDS), which is compute-heavy and notorious for causing temporal flickering and spatial drift.

SV4D avoids that mess by directly generating multiple novel-view videos in parallel. This keeps appearance and motion consistent across both time and space, eliminating the need for multi-model SDS and making the downstream 4D reconstruction much faster.

There are clear limits, though. The model is currently in a research preview and was trained primarily on synthetic datasets. It will likely struggle with messy real-world backgrounds and complex multi-object scenes.

Both the model weights and the technical report are available on Hugging Face for anyone looking to experiment.

Why it matters

If you work in game development, visual effects, or virtual reality, SV4D is a release worth testing right now. Turning a flat video into an interactive 3D asset in under half an hour gives small studios a massive speed advantage.

We think Stability AI made a very smart architectural move by ditching the cumbersome multi-model SDS approach. Enforcing spatial and temporal consistency natively is the right technical direction for dynamic 3D generation.

Keep in mind that outputting 5 frames per view means it is not ready for turnkey production today. But as an open-source foundation, it sets a compelling benchmark for real-time 4D asset pipelines.
