Aaron Sorkin is heading back into the chaotic world of Big Tech, and his follow-up to The Social Network officially has a title and a release date.

Sony has scheduled The Social Reckoning to hit theaters on October 9th, 2026, according to a report from Deadline.

A star-studded cast takes on Meta

Jeremy Strong from Succession will step in to portray Mark Zuckerberg.

Mikey Madison has been cast as former Meta employee and whistleblower Frances Haugen, while Jeremy Allen White will play Jeff Horowitz, the Wall Street Journal reporter behind The Facebook Files. Comedian Bill Burr is also joining the cast in an undisclosed role.

Why it matters

The first film captured the messy, dorm-room origins of social media, but this companion piece looks ready to confront the real-world fallout.

By centering the story on Frances Haugen and the Wall Street Journal leaks, Sorkin appears to be shifting from entrepreneurial ambition to institutional accountability. We think casting Jeremy Strong as Zuckerberg is a brilliant move that will bring a far darker, more complex tone to the character.

For anyone keeping an eye on tech power, it looks like a must-watch dramatization of how algorithmic decisions shape society.
