Scale AI's Muse now controls your Mac in the background

Published Reach 35

Scale AI just added computer use to its Muse app for Mac, letting users queue up tasks and walk away while the system keeps working unattended. Alexandr Wang announced the update, positioning it for long-running workflows. Why it matters: Desktop AI agents are shifting from active chat assistants into background workers that grind through chores on their own.

Queue it up and walk away

The biggest catch with most desktop AI tools is that you still have to babysit them.

Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang just announced that Muse for Mac now supports "computer use." The new capability lets users queue up tasks, walk away from their machines, and let the system continue running jobs automatically in the background.

By enabling unattended execution, Muse can now tackle longer and more complex workloads without requiring the user to remain glued to the screen.

Why it matters

Desktop AI agents sound great until they demand constant oversight, which defeats the entire purpose of automation. Muse allowing users to queue background jobs makes the laptop assistant substantially more practical for heavy workflows.

We think shifting computer-use agents from live co-pilots to unattended background workers is where desktop AI has to go. Still, letting an AI navigate your Mac while you are away carries obvious risks: without a human in the loop, minor errors can quickly snowball before anyone spots them.
