Runway launches ambassador program with free Pro perks for students
Runway just launched its Student Ambassador Program to get AI video tools into college classrooms. Enrolled students receive 100k free credits, a complimentary Pro plan, and direct networking access to the Runway team. The initiative is already working with universities like NYU and USC to back young creators.
For film and design students eager to experiment with generative video, the biggest roadblock usually isn't creativity—it’s the compute bill.
AI video pioneer Runway just launched its new Student Ambassador Program, aimed at bringing its video tools directly into college classrooms and creative departments.
100k credits and a direct line to the team
Accepted students receive 100,000 complimentary credits alongside a free Pro plan, giving them enough breathing room to build full class projects and portfolios without constantly worrying about token burn.
Beyond free access, the program also provides direct contact with the Runway team and networking opportunities with peers and industry professionals.
Runway is already working with major arts and film institutions globally, including NYU, Rhode Island School of Design, University of the Arts London, RMIT, USC, UCLA, and the School of Visual Arts.
Why it matters
For creative students, this immediately eliminates the steep financial barrier that prevents many from taking AI video beyond simple one-off prompts. A 100k credit grant paired with Pro tier features is plenty of firepower to iterate on an ambitious thesis film or design reel.
From a business perspective, Runway looks like it’s executing the classic Apple and Adobe playbook: win creators over while they are still in school. By embedding its platform into student workflows today, Runway is locking in the next generation of filmmakers and designers before they even step onto a commercial studio lot.
