Replit just rolled out Replit Animation, a new tool powered by Gemini 3.1 Pro designed to spin up viral videos in minutes. The company claims users can literally "vibecode" complete animations, and the announcement clip itself was built entirely inside the tool. It signals a aggressive expansion beyond code into AI multimedia creation.

Coding platforms are officially coming for multimedia creation.

Replit just announced Replit Animation, a new feature designed to help users generate shareable, viral videos in minutes using simple prompts. In a post on X, the company showcased a demo video that it claims was made entirely inside the new tool.

Vibecoding moving pictures

Replit says the feature is powered by Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro model, though some third-party trackers initially listed it as Gemini 2.5 Pro.

The tool leans into the concept of "vibecoding," bringing video and motion graphics directly into Replit's existing workspace. The goal is to let software developers and digital creators spin up dynamic promotional clips without switching contexts. Outside of the short demo clip, Replit has shared few technical specifics or deep feature breakdowns.

Why it matters

We think this is a clever expansion of Replit's core territory. For solo developers, building a product is often easier than marketing it. Having an integrated generator that can churn out dynamic demo clips right where the code lives removes massive friction, saving people from wrestling with separate video suites.

It also signals a broader shift across developer environments: cloud workspaces are racing beyond text generation to own the entire launch workflow, from backend logic to promotional media.

That said, the real test will be consistency. Marketing clips usually require frame-level precision and distinct branding. Whether a quick prompt-to-video workflow can actually produce high-quality, "viral" results consistently remains to be seen once users put it through its paces.
