Tuning into earnings calls has always been a painful exercise. If two companies you care about report at the same time, you are forced to pick one while Wall Street trading desks track both with army-sized research teams.

Financial data provider Quartr just announced a partnership with Perplexity to bring live earnings call transcriptions and AI summaries directly into the AI search engine.

Wall Street grade tools for retail investors

Through the integration of the Quartr API, Perplexity users can now access real-time and archived transcripts from more than 11,000 public companies worldwide.

The feature actually made its quiet debut last week during Nvidia's highly anticipated earnings call, pairing Quartr's live streaming transcription tech with Perplexity's proprietary AI summarization.

Alongside the live text, Perplexity rolled out a new finance widget designed to extract core insights on the fly. As Brooker Belcourt, General Manager of Finance at Perplexity, put it: you cannot listen to two earnings calls simultaneously, and this is the next closest thing to making institutional-grade research tools available to anyone.

Quartr CEO Oscar Küntzel noted that in a world obsessed with raw numbers, his team focuses on corporate narratives and qualitative data. Quartr's platform already supplies filings, decks, and calls to tens of millions of users and top asset managers, while Perplexity handles over 100 million queries every week.

Why it matters

For everyday retail investors, this is an immediate time-saver. Instead of digging through clunky investor relations portals, paying four figures a month for dedicated financial terminals, or waiting hours for news outlets to summarize a call, you can now query Perplexity in real time to see what management said about margins or guidance.

From an industry standpoint, this looks like a textbook move for Perplexity. General web search is becoming commoditized across AI engines, but proprietary, low-latency qualitative data is not. By plugging in Quartr instead of trying to scrape public web audio feeds, Perplexity is carving out a serious moat in the lucrative financial search vertical.

We think the execution is clever, but it comes with an obvious catch. Corporate executives frequently couch bad news in diplomatic corporate speak and subtle hedges. While an AI summary can quickly extract bullet points and guidance ranges, it can easily miss tone shifts or oversimplify nuanced disclaimers. It is an incredible co-pilot for earnings season, but serious investors should still verify the raw transcript before hitting trade.
