Perplexity is moving from your browser tabs straight onto your desktop.

Perplexity announced the launch of its official Windows desktop app, bringing its search experience natively to PC users.

Search outside the browser

The new Windows app is built for quicker access during your daily workflow. Instead of keeping a browser tab open, PC users can now trigger the tool using keyboard shortcuts, dictate queries using built-in voice commands, and query Perplexity's latest models directly from their desktop.

Why it matters

AI search engines want to live wherever your cursor is. By adding voice dictation and system-level shortcuts, Perplexity is trying to eliminate the friction of tab switching and become an instant reflex on PC.

If you rely on Perplexity for daily research, it is worth downloading right away just for the shortcut workflow. The bigger challenge will be competing for desktop real estate against Microsoft, which already has Copilot deeply baked into Windows.
