Perplexity just plugged SEC filings into its search engine
Perplexity just integrated the SEC/EDGAR database across Search, Research, and Labs for all users. The update gives everyday investors direct access to comprehensive financial filings, turning dense regulatory paperwork and technical disclosures into readable insights on demand.

Digging through dense corporate filings is about to get a lot less painful.
Perplexity just integrated U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) data directly into its platform.
Starting today, all Perplexity users have access to SEC and EDGAR data across Search, Research, and Labs. The company says the move gives every investor direct access to comprehensive financial figures, aiming to turn technical regulatory filings into clear answers.
Straight from the regulator
When you ask an AI about company earnings, it often grabs outdated third-party summaries or random news coverage. Tapping straight into the EDGAR database means the model can now ground its answers in primary regulatory filings like 10-Ks and 10-Qs.
Notably, Perplexity didn't lock this behind an enterprise paywall; it is rolling out to everyone across all three core modes.
Why it matters
For retail investors and equity researchers, this eliminates hours of clicking through the SEC's famously clunky interface just to locate specific disclosures.
We think this highlights an important shift in AI search: winning on domain-specific, authoritative data rather than scraping the open web. Hallucinations are a dealbreaker in finance, so grounding answers in official filings is the smartest play. That said, whether the model can reliably unpack complex GAAP adjustments or tricky accounting footnotes remains to be seen, so users should still double-check the raw filings before placing any bets.
