Perplexity Computer learns custom skills

Published Reach 38

Perplexity just introduced Skills for Perplexity Computer, allowing the AI agent to learn actions once and reuse them across future tasks. Instead of repeating identical steps each time, the system stores workflows as reusable capabilities and applies them automatically. It essentially turns one-off demonstrations into persistent automation.

The biggest friction with computer-using AI agents is watching them reinvent the wheel every single time they do a routine task.

Perplexity just introduced Skills for Perplexity Computer, an update designed to make recurring desktop workflows permanent and reusable.

Teach it once, keep it forever

Skills essentially gives Perplexity Computer a muscle memory.

Instead of starting from scratch and figuring out every mouse click and keystroke repeatedly, the AI learns a specific workflow once and stores it as a reusable capability.

Whenever a similar task comes up, Computer automatically applies the saved Skill. Users can build their own custom library of actions for any repetitive chores they run on their machine.

Why it matters

For anyone stuck with routine desktop drudgery, creating a few custom Skills could instantly cut down prompt babysitting and execution lag.

Across the industry, computer-use agents have struggled with speed, cost, and erratic behavior because re-planning every step visually burns massive compute.

We think turning learned routines into modular skills is a smart shortcut toward reliability. It effectively bridges the gap between unpredictable generative agents and deterministic automation, making autonomous desktop assistants actually viable for daily work.
