Perplexity is rolling out a code interpreter with plot rendering
Perplexity just started rolling out a built-in code interpreter with live plot rendering. The tool can install third-party Python libraries on the fly and display charts directly in answers—like pulling stock data with yfinance. It is currently rolling out gradually to users.

Perplexity is quietly turning its search engine into a full-fledged data analysis workspace.
CEO Aravind Srinivas confirmed that the platform is gradually rolling out an upgraded code interpreter alongside native plot rendering.
Installing libraries and plotting charts on the fly
According to early user reports, the biggest upgrade is flexibility. The new code interpreter can now install third-party Python packages and render charts directly within the response.
One tester demonstrated pulling live market data and generating stock charts using the yfinance library in a single prompt. Early adopters note that being able to install custom packages unlocks far more real-world use cases than standard code interpreter setups. That said, some users point out friction remains, noting that tasks like stock lookups can sometimes trigger redundant steps alongside the Tako data fetcher.
Why it matters
We think this is a natural but crucial evolution for Perplexity.
Until now, Perplexity excelled at finding sources, but users still had to jump over to ChatGPT or local Python environments whenever they needed quick data manipulation or visualization. Letting users install packages and see instant charts closes that workflow gap.
If you do research, finance tracking, or fast prototyping, this makes Perplexity a much stickier daily driver. The challenge now will be sandbox reliability and compute costs as more users run heavy data pipelines directly inside their search queries.
