OpenAI is clearing out legacy ChatGPT models
OpenAI just announced it will deprecate several legacy models in ChatGPT tomorrow at 10am PT, including GPT-5, GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and OpenAI o4-mini. The move officially sunsets previous-generation models as the platform trims its active lineup.

If you're still clinging to older models in ChatGPT, your time is officially up.
OpenAI announced that it will deprecate a major batch of legacy models inside ChatGPT starting tomorrow at 10am PT.
Clearing out the old guard
Tomorrow's retirement list cuts across several generations of flagships and lightweights.
OpenAI is pulling GPT-5, GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and the smaller reasoning model OpenAI o4-mini from ChatGPT's model picker.
Why it matters
If you have daily workflows or prompts tuned specifically for GPT-4o's tone or GPT-4.1's quirks, you're being pushed forward whether you're ready or not.
Cleaning house makes operational sense for OpenAI, freeing up compute and simplifying ChatGPT's interface. But seeing GPT-5 already labeled a legacy model is a wild reminder of just how aggressive this replacement cycle has become.
