OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 with dynamic interactive UI for everyone
OpenAI just launched GPT-6 and a new Intelligent UI feature for all ChatGPT users, replacing plain text answers with streamable, interactive components like forms, charts, and custom tools on the fly. The model can also interleave thinking with answering, starting search responses up to 44% faster. Why it matters: software is shifting from fixed interfaces to on-demand experiences tailored entirely to your prompt.

For years, talking to an AI felt like reading a teleprompter: a waterfall of text, maybe a couple of static charts, and a whole lot of scrolling. If you wanted to calculate retirement savings or compare recipe timelines, you still had to copy numbers into a separate app.
OpenAI just changed that playbook. On October 7, the company rolled out GPT-6 alongside a brand-new feature called Intelligent UI to all 1.2 billion weekly ChatGPT users. While paid subscribers got an early taste of GPT-6 models last month, the new experience is now going fully mainstream across both paid and free tiers.
Software that builds itself on the fly
Intelligent UI basically allows ChatGPT to stop defaulting to plain paragraphs and start generating miniature, interactive software inside your chat window.
Depending on what you ask, GPT-6 picks the best layout from a native streamable component library processed by a real-time compiler. Ask how a seven-speed bicycle works, and instead of a wall of text, you get an interactive diagram where tapping individual components reveals how they operate. Ask for Mahjong rules, and it serves up scrollable visual categories of tiles.
It can also whip up working mini-tools on demand. Need a bill splitter for dinner, an interactive loan calculator, or a quick retro game directly in the thread? ChatGPT now builds the controls, buttons, and forms right into the response without making you wait for the whole block to finish rendering.
Thinking and answering at the same time
Speed also got a serious upgrade. Anyone who used previous reasoning models knows the pain of staring at a blank screen while the system thought through tough logic. GPT-6 introduces interleaved reasoning: it now begins answering while continuing to think behind the scenes.
For queries requiring live web search, GPT-6 Instant begins delivering its response 44% faster on average compared to GPT-5.6 Instant. In OpenAI's internal benchmarks, GPT-6 Extra High started replying as quickly as the older GPT-5.6 Medium while beating GPT-5.6 Extra High in overall task performance.
On the rollout front, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users get GPT-6 Sol in the Chat tab, while Free and Go users tap into GPT-6 Luna. Both models are tuned for daily conversations and feature beefed-up guardrails against multi-turn jailbreaks, with improved honesty about their own limitations.
Why it matters
For everyday users, this eliminates the friction of prompt gymnastics. You no longer have to squint at paragraphs of data when an interactive checklist or custom slider can solve your problem in seconds. It turns ChatGPT from an answer machine into an on-demand toolbox.
Across the industry, this moves the competitive goalposts. Frontier labs have spent years competing over benchmark numbers and context length, but OpenAI is focusing heavily on human interaction. When an AI can assemble a custom user interface instantly, a lot of single-purpose micro-SaaS utilities suddenly lose their defensive moat.
We think this architectural shift is brilliant: for decades, humans spent their lives learning how to adapt to static software menus, but Intelligent UI flips that script so software adapts to humans. That said, keeping dynamic layouts coherent across millions of edge cases will be tricky, and OpenAI still has to prove these dynamic elements stay completely reliable when prompts get messy.
