OpenAI is moving fast to get its heaviest research tools into subscribers' hands.

The company announced that Deep Research is now rolled out to all ChatGPT Pro users across its native apps on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.

Full-scale research in your pocket

First introduced by OpenAI's Mark Chen, Deep Research is designed as a leap forward in how models uncover information. Instead of serving up quick conversational replies, it autonomously browses the web, gathers diverse sources, and synthesizes its findings into a comprehensive research report.

Opening this up across mobile and desktop apps means users no longer have to stay glued to a browser tab while the model runs complex investigation tasks in the background.

Why it matters

We think expanding access to every app client is a smart move to justify the Pro tier's steep price tag. For analysts, students, and professionals who live on desk research, being able to launch an in-depth research query from a phone and check the finished paper later is genuinely useful.

That said, giving AI free rein to scrape the open web and synthesize findings always comes with hallucination risks. The convenience is clear, but users will still need to double-check the sources behind those generated papers.
