OpenAI gives ChatGPT a 25% memory boost

Published Reach 36

OpenAI just increased the cross-chat memory limit in ChatGPT by 25% for Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers. The upgrade gives the chatbot more room to store ongoing preferences, details, and context across workflows without forgetting earlier notes. It is already live for paid accounts.

ChatGPT power users just got a little more breathing room for their saved preferences.

A 25% memory bump for paid tiers

OpenAI announced on X that it has increased the memory limit in ChatGPT by 25% for Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers.

The update came directly in response to user feedback. A subscriber posted a plea to OpenAI's Sherwin Wu asking for more memory for Plus accounts, and OpenAI quoted the post to confirm the upgrade was live.

ChatGPT's memory feature lets the chatbot remember context, tone preferences, and project details across different chats, saving users from having to re-prompt the model every time they start fresh.

Why it matters

If you use ChatGPT all day for work, hitting the memory ceiling is an annoying reality. While a 25% expansion isn't a massive overhaul, it offers welcome breathing room to store more coding styles, project constraints, and personal quirks without being forced to delete older entries.

We think shipping quality-of-life improvements based on direct community requests is a smart move. Beyond pushing frontier benchmarks, smoothing out the daily friction in paid tiers makes the subscription feel noticeably stickier.
