OASIS puts a trackpad and whisper dictation on your finger

Published Reach 34

OASIS just unveiled the OASIS 1, a smart ring that turns quiet whispers into text and packs a tiny trackpad for on-the-fly cursor edits. Powered by WisprFlow tech, it combines noise-isolating microphones with haptic feedback to fix transcription typos directly from your finger. It aims to make voice typing quiet and private enough to finally ditch the keyboard.

For decades, we’ve been chained to keyboards, mice, and touchscreens. Hardware startup OASIS thinks it’s time to move on.

The company just revealed the OASIS 1, a $289 smart ring designed to let you whisper text directly onto your computer screen while using a built-in miniature trackpad to fix typos on the fly.

Whisper in private, edit with a thumb

Voice dictation usually fails in public for two simple reasons: speaking aloud feels awkward, and fixing AI transcription errors takes more work than typing the sentence yourself.

OASIS 1 tackles both problems in a single wearable form factor. It integrates a noise-isolating microphone powered by WisprFlow's AI dictation model, allowing you to whisper quietly into your finger without disturbing anyone around you.

And when the AI inevitably misses a word, you don’t have to reach for a mouse. The ring packs a capacitive trackpad with haptic feedback right onto its outer shell. Subtle finger swipes move the cursor and edit text across connected devices.

Hardware-wise, OASIS claims up to 16 hours of battery life and support for seamless cross-device switching. Pre-orders are live at $289, with limited first-batch shipments expected around Christmas 2026.

Why it matters

Most standalone AI wearables fail because they pretend screens and cursor controls no longer matter. By pairing private voice input with an actual pointing device, OASIS 1 avoids that trap entirely.

We think this hybrid approach is remarkably clever. It acknowledges that AI speech recognition is imperfect and keeps the correction loop fast, tactile, and local. If you draft high volumes of text while pacing or commuting, the idea of dictating silently without touching a keyboard is genuinely compelling.

Still, color us cautious about pre-ordering right now. At $289 with a late 2026 delivery window, it is asking buyers to finance an early-stage hardware promise. Whispering into your hand in an open-plan office might still look strange, and a 16-hour battery means yet another device on your nightly charging dock. It points in the right direction, but waiting for independent reviews feels like the smarter call.
