NVIDIA drops Llama Nemotron Nano 4B for edge AI
NVIDIA just released Llama Nemotron Nano 4B, an open reasoning model tailored for edge agents. It delivers higher accuracy and 50% faster throughput than other sub-8B open models across coding, math, and function calling. It runs directly on Jetson and RTX GPUs for low-cost local reasoning.

Llama Nemotron Nano 4B is an open reasoning model from NVIDIA designed specifically for edge devices. It is built to let developers run capable local agents without relying on heavy cloud APIs.
Built for local speed
According to NVIDIA, Nemotron Nano 4B achieves higher accuracy and 50% faster throughput than other leading open models with 8 billion parameters or fewer.
The 4B model is tuned for edge agents tackling scientific tasks, coding, complex math, function calling, and instruction following. It also supports hybrid reasoning to keep inference costs low.
On the hardware side, you can deploy it directly on NVIDIA Jetson embedded hardware or desktop RTX GPUs. That keeps your data private while getting fast local execution. The model is already available on Hugging Face for anyone to download.
Why it matters
If you are building autonomous edge agents or local desktop tools that need reliable function calling without the memory footprint of an 8B model, this is an easy test run.
Delivering higher throughput than standard sub-8B models gives local hardware enough breathing room to feel snappy in real-world workflows.
