Nous Research opens Hermes mobile app waitlist after beta fills up
Nous Research just opened a waitlist for its new Hermes Mobile app after initial beta spots filled up almost instantly at NousCon 2026. The team says it is actively working to free up more beta slots while polishing the agent app for a wider public rollout.

Open-source darling Nous Research just took its popular Hermes agent to mobile devices, and the hype was immediate.
At NousCon 2026, the team announced the private beta for the Hermes Mobile app. Predictably, spots vanished almost instantly. With demand far outpacing capacity, the team quickly opened up an official waitlist so left-out users can hold their place in line.
Instant sellout at NousCon
Hermes has long been a go-to family of fine-tunes for local model enthusiasts. Bringing that intelligence directly to a smartphone app naturally drew an eager crowd. Nous Research confirmed the initial test group maxed out right away, adding that early feedback has been incredible.
The team noted it is now working tirelessly to create extra breathing room in the beta while getting the app fully production-ready for a broader public rollout.
Why it matters
For a long time, running capable open-source agents meant wrestling with terminal windows, cloud APIs, or beefy local GPUs. Wrapping Hermes inside a dedicated mobile app signals that the open ecosystem is finally coming after everyday pocket workflows.
We think this transition is overdue. While we still need to see how much runs on-device versus in the cloud, giving users an open alternative to platform-locked AI assistants is a big win. If you care about open-source agents, signing up for the waitlist is basically a no-brainer right now.
