Motorica's MoGen brings AI character animation to open beta
Motorica just launched the open beta for MoGen, its diffusion-based tool for generating 3D character animation. Trained on over 150 movement styles, it lets creators generate high-quality motion and tweak paths in FBX-compatible software like Maya, Blender, and Unreal Engine 5.
Anyone who has ever rigged or hand-keyed a 3D character knows the pain of tweaking basic movement frames for hours.
Swedish AI company Motorica has officially launched the open beta for MoGen, its diffusion-based character animation generator.
Plug-and-play with major 3D suites
Trained on a dataset spanning over 150 motion styles, MoGen lets creators quickly generate 3D character movements from motion paths.
Instead of trapping users in a walled garden, it plays nice with any FBX-compatible software, including Blender, Maya, Unity, and Unreal Engine.
For Unreal Engine 5 users, Motorica went a step further by rolling out a dedicated Motorica Studio plugin for tighter workflow integration.
Why it matters
Bringing diffusion models into 3D skeletal animation is a massive win for solo game devs and indie studios who cannot afford a full motion-capture stage.
What makes Motorica’s approach smart is friction reduction: by delivering FBX assets and integrating directly into UE5, it fits right inside an animator's existing pipeline instead of forcing them into a new web dashboard.
While cleanups for foot sliding and joint clipping are usually unavoidable with generative motion, tools like MoGen look set to drastically slash the time it takes to block out scene animations.
