Mistral revamps le Chat with mobile apps and 10x faster replies
Mistral just rolled out dedicated iOS and Android apps for its le Chat assistant alongside a major platform upgrade. It packs web search, document processing, Flux Ultra image generation, and a new Flash Answers mode that replies over 10x faster than ChatGPT.

While most of the AI world has been fixated on Silicon Valley and recent challenger models, Europe’s top AI lab just made a massive push into everyday workflows.
French AI startup Mistral announced the official launch of dedicated iOS and Android mobile apps for its le Chat assistant, alongside a comprehensive overhaul of its entire platform.
Pocket-sized intelligence and 1,000-word-per-second speed
The biggest visual shift is le Chat leaving the browser silo behind. Users can now download native mobile apps on iOS and Android to search the web, analyze documents, and brainstorm on the go.
Under the hood, speed is the headliner. Mistral introduced a preview feature dubbed Flash Answers, which pushes generation speeds up to roughly 1,000 words per second. According to the company, that makes it over ten times faster than rivals like ChatGPT and Claude.
Mistral also bundled high-end creative and technical tooling into the interface. le Chat now features a sandboxed Code Interpreter capable of running simulations, verifying algorithms, and rendering visual data charts.
For image generation, Mistral integrated Black Forest Labs’ Flux Ultra model directly into the chat interface. Document and image processing rely on proprietary vision and OCR models designed to decipher dense PDFs, messy spreadsheets, and complex logs.
Mistral confirmed that an opt-in Memories feature is rolling out soon, alongside future data connectors for email, databases, and multi-step autonomous agents.
Aggressive pricing and on-premise flexibility
Alongside the consumer revamp, Mistral rolled out an aggressive pricing structure paired with deep enterprise customization.
The free tier remains surprisingly generous, granting access to Mistral’s latest models, web search, document uploads, and Flux Ultra image generation without requiring a credit card.
For power users, a Pro tier is available at $14.99 per month, notably undercutting the typical $20 standard established by OpenAI and Anthropic. A collaborative Team tier is also live at $24.99 per user each month.
For corporate customers, le Chat Enterprise entered private preview. Rather than locking businesses into a shared cloud, Mistral allows companies to deploy le Chat within a virtual private cloud or directly on-premise, complete with custom model fine-tuning.
Why it matters
For everyday consumers and professionals, le Chat is instantly compelling. Getting Flux Ultra generations and heavy-duty PDF parsing for free makes it worth installing today, while the $14.99 Pro tier provides a noticeably cheaper alternative to ChatGPT Plus.
Across the industry, this launch signals that the AI assistant race is evolving beyond raw benchmark scores. Latency and architectural control are quickly becoming the real differentiators for both casual users who hate waiting and enterprises terrified of data leaks.
We think Mistral played this hand brilliantly. By pairing blistering inference speed with on-premise infrastructure guarantees, it sidesteps a direct head-on collision with Silicon Valley’s capital firehose.
Instead of trying to win every generic benchmark, Mistral is building a faster, cheaper, and structurally more secure enterprise alternative that European and compliance-heavy businesses will find hard to ignore.
