Midjourney rolls out 4x sharper HD video mode
Midjourney just released an HD Video mode for its Pro and Mega subscribers. The new mode packs roughly 4x more pixels than the standard SD video output, though it will cost users about 3.2x more in compute credits. It is specifically aimed at professionals who need top-tier video quality.
If Midjourney's default video outputs have been feeling a bit too blurry for real production work, there is now an official fix—provided you pay up.
Midjourney just announced the rollout of an HD Video mode, designed specifically for professionals who need the absolute highest quality footage the platform can produce.
Four times the pixels for 3.2x the cost
According to Midjourney, the new HD Video mode delivers approximately 4x more pixels compared to the default SD video generation.
That extra clarity comes with a clear trade-off: each generation will cost roughly 3.2x more in usage than standard SD mode.
Access is currently limited to Pro and Mega tier subscribers, leaving standard and basic users on the sidelines for now.
Why it matters
The AI video race is quickly moving from novel moving clips to production-ready fidelity. For creatives trying to cut AI clips into client projects or high-res timelines, SD outputs just do not cut it, making this 4x pixel bump a welcome upgrade.
We think Midjourney's pricing curve—getting 4x pixels for roughly 3.2x the cost—is reasonable on paper, but restricting it to Pro and Mega tiers shows where the company's priorities lie: extracting more revenue from heavy commercial users while keeping GPU clusters from melting under mass consumer demand.
