Meta rolls out Meta One with AI video and agent perks
Meta just launched Meta One, a tiered subscription service starting at $2.99 a month across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Meta AI. The bundle unlocks heavy AI usage like Muse-powered video generation and 24/7 Meta Business Agents, while keeping the core apps free.

Meta wants you to pay a monthly tab for your social feeds, but it is not taking away the free apps you already use.
Meta just launched Meta One, a multi-tiered subscription service that spans Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Meta AI. Pricing starts at $2.99 per month for lightweight perks and scales all the way up to $499 per month for full-scale commercial operations.
More than 50 features are shipping on day one, and Meta plans to expand the bundle to its Edits creative app and AI smart glasses down the road.
Ala carte styling and heavyweight AI compute
Meta is splitting individual tiers into single-app add-ons and compute-heavy bundles.
If you only care about one platform, you can pick up WhatsApp Plus for $2.99 a month, or Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus for $3.99 a month each. These tiers focus on personalization: custom fonts in direct messages, alerts when specific friends view your Story, message previews, custom app icons, and super reactions. WhatsApp Plus will soon test cloud backup storage and Focus Schedules to hide specific chats on a timer.
Power users get two bundled plans: Core at $7.99 per month and Premium at $19.99 per month. Both package all single-app perks together with heavier allowances for generative AI, including Muse-powered image and video generation, as well as Instagram tools like Restyle and audio effects. Meta notes that in pilot tests, over half of bundle subscribers used both expression features and AI tools regularly.
Monetizing the storefront and the inbox
For creators and small brands, Meta One packages monetization tools directly inside existing mobile apps, bypassing the need for separate dashboards.
Business tiers range from Essential at $14.99 per month to Advanced at $49.99, Expert at $149, and Max at $499 per month. Base plans bundle verified badges, impersonation monitoring, and 24/7 customer service automation through Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp. Higher tiers unlock 30-day Story scheduling, external links on organic posts, exported analytics, and multi-seat access without sharing passwords.
Meta also teased an upcoming Edits Plus tier, which will introduce cross-device project syncing via cloud storage and an AI assistant that brainstorms post ideas from your audience metrics.
Why it matters
For everyday scrollers, your daily feed remains untouched, and regular Meta AI access stays free. Meta is essentially reviving early web customization packs with custom fonts and viewer notifications, then sweetening the deal with generative AI tools. If you already spend hours editing Reels or making AI art, the $7.99 Core tier is a reasonable playground, but casual users have little reason to open their wallets.
For creators and merchants, the calculus shifts quickly. Features like bolder follow buttons, automated outreach to engaged viewers, and always-on WhatsApp agents turn social profiles into automated sales funnels. In markets across Latin America and Southeast Asia where commerce runs almost entirely on WhatsApp, paying for automated agents is an obvious cost of doing business.
We think Meta's packaging strategy is brilliant. Running frontier video and image models like Muse costs serious data center cash, and ad revenue alone cannot subsidize infinite free compute. Instead of trying to sell a standalone $20 chatbot like ChatGPT, Meta is wrapping compute costs into the vanity and utility features its billions of users already care about. The lingering risk, however, is algorithmic integrity: the moment link sharing, visibility, and audience reach become pay-to-play, platform trust gets harder to preserve.
