Meta AI just landed on the Mac with screen sharing

Published Reach 39

Meta just launched a dedicated Mac app for Meta AI, pushing its assistant deeper into daily work. The new app lets you share specific windows so the AI can see what you are working on, answer questions, and generate content, alongside system-wide dictation across any application. It also hooks directly into Google Workspace and Meta's ad and social accounts to churn out performance reports, slides, and docs.

Meta is bringing its AI assistant straight to desktop workspaces.

On Wednesday, Meta launched a dedicated Mac app for Meta AI. The headline feature is window screen sharing, which lets the chatbot see what you are working on to offer suggestions, answer questions, or generate content. It also packs system-wide voice dictation that works across any Mac app.

Deep hooks into social and workspace tools

Meta is clearly pushing the chatbot toward day-to-day work, especially for creators and businesses.

The app integrates with Google Workspace and works across Instagram, Facebook, and Meta ad campaigns. For instance, Meta AI can examine your post reach, likes, shares, and saves to recommend what to publish next.

It can also pull context from business accounts and the web to draft decks, documents, and spreadsheets, or automate recurring tasks like weekly performance reports.

Why it matters

For social media managers and marketers tied to Meta's ad ecosystem, having native access to performance metrics and automated reporting in a desktop dock is a genuine time-saver.

Meta is playing catch-up on the desktop front, though. Google Gemini already handles window sharing, while OpenAI and Anthropic are already testing models that take direct control of your mouse and keyboard. Meta's approach looks much more conservative, but leaning into its walled garden of creator data and advertising tools might be its most practical wedge yet.
