lmarena.ai just launched Image Arena, bringing blind side-by-side battles to AI image generation. Users enter a prompt to get two anonymous outputs from models like FLUX, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, Recraft, and Ideogram, then vote for the winner ahead of an upcoming leaderboard.

The team behind the most trusted LLM benchmark just brought their blind test format to the world of AI imagery.

Lmarena.ai rolled out Image Arena, a side-by-side battleground for text-to-image models. The starting lineup includes heavy hitters like FLUX, Stable Diffusion, Dall-E, Recraft, and Ideogram.

The mechanics will feel immediately familiar. You enter a single image prompt, two anonymous models generate their outputs, and you vote for the winner. LMSYS confirmed that a public leaderboard tracking model performance will launch soon.

Leveling the visual playing field

Stripping away model names removes the branding hype entirely. It does not matter whether an image comes from an open-source darling or a massive proprietary API; the results have to stand purely on their prompt adherence and visual quality.

Why it matters

Evaluating image generation has always been messy. Academic benchmarks rarely reflect actual human taste, and company demos inevitably cherry-pick the cleanest outputs. We think Image Arena provides much-needed ground truth for the creative community.

For designers and developers, this gives an unfiltered way to see which generator actually follows instructions in everyday scenarios. That said, crowd-sourced judging has its own biases: voters often gravitate toward hyper-saturated, immediately punchy aesthetics over subtle or compositionally complex outputs, which could slant the upcoming leaderboard.
