Lightricks drops open-source LTX Video-13B that runs on consumer GPUs

Published Reach 48

Lightricks just launched LTX Video-13B, a 13-billion-parameter open-source video model available on GitHub and Hugging Face. It brings multi-scale rendering that generates high-res clips up to 30 times faster than peers, and clever quantization lets it run on consumer GPUs. Plus, it's free to license commercially for teams under $10M in revenue.

LTX Video-13B is a fresh 13-billion-parameter open-source video generation model from Lightricks that actually runs on consumer-grade hardware.

While the first LTXV model from November packed 2 billion parameters, this new release dramatically improves output resolution and motion coherence without forcing you to rent an expensive enterprise GPU cluster.

What you can do with it

The big upgrade here is fine-grained control and visual fidelity.

Lightricks built a multi-scale rendering process into the model. Instead of generating every high-res pixel at once, it works like a concept artist: laying down rough sketches first, then progressively adding detail and color layer by layer.

This workflow makes high-resolution rendering up to 30 times faster than competing models with similar parameter counts.

You also get direct controls over camera movement, keyframe editing, multi-shot sequencing, and scene-level motion. Open-source contributors also helped integrate reference-to-video tools, video-to-video editing, and upsampling controls that strip out background noise.

Training data is another highlight. It was trained on licensed assets from Getty Images and Shutterstock, meaning commercial use is clean of copyright concerns.

How to run it

Despite having 13 billion parameters, you can run this locally on a standard personal computer with a single consumer graphics card.

That is largely thanks to the UEfficient Q8 kernel, which handles quantization and optimizes performance on machines with limited compute resources.

The weights and codebase are freely available to download on GitHub and Hugging Face. Any team or business with under $10 million in annual revenue can license and use it commercially for free.

If you prefer not to touch terminal commands or set up a local environment, the model is already integrated into the web-based LTX Studio platform with full creative controls.

Why it matters

Most frontier video generation is currently trapped behind expensive closed APIs and black boxes.

LTXV-13B gives indie developers and video creators a capable, commercially safe open-source backbone that runs locally on gear they already own. If you want to build custom video workflows without bleeding cloud API credits, this is definitely worth cloning to your local machine.
