Kling AI goes global with free video credits

Published Reach 43

Kuaishou just rolled out Kling AI 1.0 worldwide, opening its Sora competitor to anyone with an email address. Users receive 66 free daily credits for text-to-video and image-to-video generation, complete with multi-format outputs and custom camera controls. While OpenAI keeps Sora behind closed doors, Kling is giving creators real access right now.

While OpenAI keeps Sora locked behind closed doors for VIP testers, Chinese tech giant Kuaishou just did what everyone was waiting for: it opened its video generator to the world.

Kling AI version 1.0 is now live globally at KlingAI.com. Anyone can sign up with just an email address—no waitlists, no invite codes, and no Chinese phone numbers required. Even better, new accounts get 66 free daily credits to create both text-to-video and image-to-video clips.

The global rollout follows a familiar playbook seen with TikTok and Douyin. Kuaishou keeps its domestic portal at kling.kuaishou.com while serving international users on a clean, dedicated domain.

Real camera controls and fewer nightmare glitches

Kling AI serves up three output formats right out of the box: a 960x960 square, 720p landscape, and 720p portrait. Generation takes about 5 minutes for a 5-second, 30fps clip. That works out to roughly one minute of rendering per second of video, or about half a second per frame.

What makes the platform genuinely fun to use is the level of control it gives creators. You get full camera controls—static, pan, tilt, horizontal, vertical, and rolling movements. There is also a slider to balance prompt relevance versus creative freedom, alongside support for negative prompts and both English and Mandarin inputs.

In testing, Kling handled tricky scenarios surprisingly well. When fed the prompt of wolf pups playing on gravel—a scene that famously caused visual artifacts in OpenAI's Sora previews—Kling created three realistic wolves without any horrifying body melting or random extra animals spawning out of thin air.

It also nailed complex realistic scenes, like a female robot walking through a futuristic city, complete with heat warping effects around flames. It still has quirks: fine parallel patterns can trip it up, and asking for a 2D anime samurai yielded a 3D animated model instead. Kuaishou says 1080p exports, longer generation lengths, and end-frame controls for image-to-video are coming soon.

Why it matters

Kling AI’s biggest advantage over Sora right now is simple: you can actually use it. By offering daily free credits and ditching regional barriers, Kuaishou is letting everyday creators, indie filmmakers, and social media producers generate usable B-roll right in their browsers today.

We think this global launch puts serious pressure on OpenAI, Runway, and Luma. While Western frontier labs debate rollout safety and keep demos in gated previews, Kuaishou is rapidly building mindshare and collecting global prompt data across hundreds of thousands of daily users.

The catch will be infrastructure and unit economics. Five minutes of compute for a five-second clip is computationally expensive. As global traffic floods in, Kuaishou will have to prove it can maintain generation speeds and convert free users into paying subscribers once its tier plans roll out.
