Inflection AI's Pi can now browse the live web
Inflection AI just gave its conversational assistant Pi real-time web access. Users can now ask Pi about breaking news and live events directly. The friendly companion bot is no longer trapped in the past, finally closing the knowledge gap with competitors.

Inflection AI just gave its conversational assistant, Pi, real-time access to the live web.
The company announced that Pi can now browse fresh information from across the internet, allowing users to ask about breaking news, current events, and live updates without hitting a knowledge cutoff.
Pi steps out into the real world
Until now, Pi carved out a niche as the warm, emotionally intelligent chatbot you went to for thoughtful conversations. But without internet access, it was effectively living under a rock whenever users asked about things happening right now.
With real-time search turned on, Pi can pull fresh data straight from the web. Users can now treat it as an everyday information source instead of just a conversational sounding board.
Why it matters
In our view, adding live web search was a mandatory upgrade if Inflection AI wanted Pi to become a true daily companion rather than a niche empathy toy.
Great listening skills only get an AI assistant so far. If it cannot answer a simple question about what happened this morning, users will inevitably abandon the chat to check Google or another assistant. Bringing live web data directly into Pi keeps users inside its ecosystem.
That said, real-time browsing introduces messy variables. The open web is full of junk data and fast-moving rumors, and Inflection AI will have to prove that Pi can pull live facts without losing the calm, measured tone that made people like it in the first place.
