Imandra launches CodeLogician to mathematically verify AI code

Published Reach 33

Imandra just launched CodeLogician, an AI coding assistant powered by neurosymbolic AI and automated reasoning. It turns generated code into mathematical models to formally verify behavior and eradicate subtle hallucinations. Python is supported first, with an early-access waitlist open now.

The single biggest annoyance with AI coding assistants isn’t that they can’t code. It’s that they generate code that looks brilliant on the surface, only to break catastrophically in production.

Automated reasoning startup Imandra is stepping in with a fix. The company just introduced CodeLogician, a new AI coding assistant that abandons pure guesswork in favor of mathematical guarantees.

Math as the ultimate code reviewer

Unlike standard tools like GitHub Copilot that rely entirely on large language models, CodeLogician is built on neurosymbolic AI. It pairs generative models with ImandraX, an enterprise reasoning engine already trusted by national stock exchanges and governments to verify mission-critical systems.

Built on the LangGraph framework, CodeLogician takes the code an LLM produces and automatically converts it into a mathematical model. The ImandraX engine then runs formal verification across the logic, hunting down security vulnerabilities and mathematically proving the code does what it is supposed to do.

It also generates automated test suites to back up its proof. Imandra uses a technique called state-space exploration through symbolic region decompositions, essentially mapping out every possible state the LLM could wander into before letting the code pass.

CodeLogician is starting with support for Python, with Java and COBOL on the roadmap to help modernize legacy enterprise infrastructure. It is currently available to early testers via a waitlist, with plans to launch as an API and a VS Code extension.

Why it matters

We think this is the exact direction enterprise AI coding has to go. While hobbyists and front-end devs are happy to vibe-code with standard LLMs, engineers in finance, healthcare, and infrastructure simply cannot tolerate hallucinations that fail silently in edge cases.

Imandra’s approach is clever because it doesn’t try to fix hallucinations by making the LLM bigger. Instead, it treats the LLM as an idea generator and puts an unforgiving mathematical engine in charge of quality control. As co-CEO Denis Ignatovich noted, Bill Gates once called formal verification the holy grail of software development; neurosymbolic AI might finally make it usable.

The real hurdle will be performance and scale. Exhaustive mathematical reasoning is notorious for state-space explosions when applied to sprawling, messy codebases. If Imandra can keep verification latency fast enough inside a VS Code extension without choking on complex architectures, it could set a brand-new standard for how mission-critical software is written.
