Grok Bot adds shopping mode to hunt deals and track orders

The race to turn conversational AI into an end-to-end shopping concierge is heating up, and Grok Bot wants in.

According to TestingCatalog, Grok Bot is rolling out a dedicated shopping experience that lets users search for the best product deals and track ongoing orders directly inside the chat.

Seamless deal hunting and biometric approvals

Beyond basic price checking and package tracking, Grok Bot is setting up a crucial piece of checkout infrastructure: passkey support for purchase approvals.

Instead of bouncing between windows or typing passwords to authorize a transaction, users will soon be able to approve buys using device-level passkeys. The feature is marked as coming soon.

Why it matters

We think this is a smart push toward immediate commercial utility. Chatbots are entertaining, but price tracking and deal hunting are where daily utility turns into actual transactions.

Adding passkeys is the critical component here. It transforms Grok from a passive search box into an active shopping agent. When users can greenlight a purchase with Face ID or a fingerprint right inside the thread, purchase friction essentially vanishes.

Still, handing buying power to an AI requires immense user trust. Grok will need to prove that its deal recommendations remain genuinely unbiased and that automated approvals never misfire.
