Google Slides gets Imagen 3 and a built-in visual toolkit
Google just integrated its Imagen 3 image generation model directly into Google Slides alongside a new design sidebar. The update adds in-canvas AI visual generation, pre-built layout blocks for quotes and agendas, and millions of stock assets. Why it matters: Polishing presentations is much faster when you don't need third-party tools to create custom visuals.

Google just gave Slides a major visual upgrade, bringing its flagship AI image model right into your presentation workflow.
Better visuals right from the sidebar
Announced on March 31, Google Slides is now integrating Imagen 3, the company's latest image generation model, into a new right-hand design sidebar.
Alongside AI generation, Google expanded its stock library with millions of images, web visuals, and GIFs directly accessible inside the app.
The update also adds pre-designed building blocks for common presentation needs like agendas, key stats, and quotes, making formatting much quicker.
A handy quality-of-life feature called proportional scaling was also introduced, letting you resize groups of objects and text together without distorting images or losing clarity.
Why it matters
If you build decks for a living, this saves you from toggling between stock photo sites, image editors, and your canvas.
We think Google made a smart move by treating Imagen 3 as just another utility inside the sidebar rather than a gimmicky centerpiece. Combining generative images with solid building blocks and basic layout fixes tackles the real friction of slide design: finding assets and tweaking spacing.
Whether AI-generated imagery fits every corporate pitch remains to be seen, but the workflow tweaks alone make Slides noticeably less tedious to use.
