If you have been waiting to test AI video without committing to another monthly subscription, Google is opening a short free window.

Google Gemini announced a limited-time trial that lets users generate up to ten videos at no cost. The perk is available through August 4, 2026, at 11:59pm PT, and applies exclusively to users who do not already have an active Google AI subscription plan.

Making clips with Gemini Omni

Accessing the feature is straightforward. Users just need to open Gemini and select "Create video" from the tools menu.

According to Google, the tool goes beyond simple text-to-video prompts by also supporting video editing and remixing. The entire experience runs on the multimodal capabilities of Gemini Omni.

Why it matters

For creators and casual users, ten free generations provide just enough runway to test how well Gemini Omni handles motion, prompt adherence, and remixing without spending a dollar. It is definitely worth firing up while the window is open.

From a business perspective, Google is using this freebie directly as a top-of-funnel acquisition play aimed squarely at non-paying users. We think giving away hands-on compute is a clever way to showcase multimodal improvements, though the strict 10-video cap and short deadline mean it is essentially a teaser to push paid tier upgrades.
