Breaking into tech usually comes with two massive roadblocks: steep tuition and strict degree requirements.

Google is trying to remove both in one state. The company has teamed up with the Delaware Department of Labor and Delaware Libraries to offer residents completely free access to its Google Career Certificates and AI training suite, with no college degree or prior tech experience needed.

From vibe coding to enterprise job boards

Delawareans can take flexible, self-paced online courses covering in-demand areas like cybersecurity, data analytics, IT support, and UX design. The updated lineup also features the Google AI Professional Certificate, which teaches workplace productivity, prompt writing, and how to build custom apps using vibe coding.

To bridge the gap to actual employment, graduates get direct access to an employer consortium of over 150 major companies, including Deloitte, Siemens, and Wells Fargo. According to Google, more than 70% of certificate graduates report a positive career outcome within six months.

Why it matters

For job seekers, this offers a genuinely low-risk path into modern tech skills, especially with practical tools like vibe coding now built into the curriculum.

For Google, partnering with state labor departments and public libraries is a brilliant distribution move. It positions its certificates as public infrastructure while training the next wave of entry-level workers directly inside the Google ecosystem. The main hurdle, as always with self-paced programs, will be completion rates—getting a free license is easy, but actually finishing the coursework and landing an offer in a cautious hiring market is a different battle.
