Google brings Deep Research to Gemini 2.5 Pro
Google just rolled out Deep Research powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental for Gemini Advanced subscribers. The upgrade improves analytical reasoning and synthesis, outperforming rival deep research tools by a 2-to-1 margin in testing, while also supporting podcast-style Audio Overviews of generated reports.

AI deep research just got a massive brain upgrade.
Google rolled out Deep Research powered by its latest Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental model. It is available now for Gemini Advanced subscribers across the web, Android, and iOS, as well as Google Workspace accounts with Gemini access, though Workspace mobile support is still pending.
Two-to-one rater preference
To run it, users select Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) from the model menu and hit the Deep Research button in the prompt box.
Google claims raters preferred research reports generated by 2.5 Pro over rival deep research tools by more than a 2-to-1 margin. Early testers report sharper analytical reasoning and cleaner information synthesis when handling broad, complex topics.
Once the report is ready, users can also flip it into a podcast-style Audio Overview to listen through findings on the go.
Why it matters
For anyone buried in market analysis, academic literature, or competitive research, this cuts hours of manual skimming into minutes. The built-in audio overview feature makes consuming dense topics painless during a commute.
Google is taking direct aim at OpenAI's Deep Research. By leveraging 2.5 Pro's top-tier reasoning scores and pairing text reports with audio formats, Google is making Gemini Advanced an increasingly compelling bundle for knowledge workers.
