Gemini Advanced can now remember your past chats

Published Reach 39

Google just updated Gemini Advanced to recall past conversations and tailor its responses without you having to re-explain everything. You have full control to review, delete, or turn off history. The feature is rolling out now in English for Google One AI Premium subscribers on web and mobile.

Starting February 13, Google is rolling out cross-conversation memory for Gemini Advanced.

Instead of treating every new chat like a blank slate, Gemini can now recall details from your past conversations. Whether you are asking about something you already discussed or asking for a quick recap of an old thread, it pulls context directly from relevant past chats.

That means no more spending five minutes re-explaining your project specs every time you open a new window. You can simply build on top of earlier work. Whenever Gemini pulls from an older thread, it flags it directly in the response sources.

Google says users keep full control. You can review, delete, or set retention periods for your chat history under My Activity, or toggle the feature off entirely.

For now, the feature is rolling out in English to Gemini Advanced subscribers on the Google One AI Premium plan across web and mobile. Workspace business and enterprise users, along with additional languages, will get access in the coming weeks.

Why it matters

AI assistants are pretty frustrating to work with when they forget everything the second you open a new tab. Google is playing catch-up to ChatGPT's memory feature here, but natively bridging historical context makes daily workflows far smoother. It looks like a smart, measured rollout that keeps privacy controls front and center with clear source attribution. If you already pay for Gemini Advanced, it is definitely worth testing on your ongoing multi-step projects.
