ElevenLabs brings multi-speaker dialogue to its new v3 model

Published Reach 41

ElevenLabs just rolled out Eleven v3 (alpha) across its API, bringing realistic multi-speaker dialogue and emotional control to developers. The model supports over 70 languages and can handle natural interruptions between unlimited speakers using audio tags. Partners like HeyGen, InVideo, and Poe have already integrated the update.

If you have ever tried generating a multi-character audio scene using AI, you know the headache. You typically have to prompt each voice separately, export individual audio files, and stitch them together in an editor while praying the pacing does not sound totally robotic.

ElevenLabs is looking to kill that workflow entirely. On August 20, the company officially launched Eleven v3 (alpha) into its API, bringing massive updates to expressiveness and multilingual generation.

Dialogue mode and limitless cast members

Traditional text-to-speech tools treat generation as a solo act. Eleven v3 flips this with a dedicated dialogue mode that supports an unlimited number of speakers within a single generation flow.

Critically, the model understands conversational physics. It can simulate natural interruptions, organic shifts in tone, and contextual emotional cues without developers manually slicing the audio track.

Creators also gain deeper granular direction using audio tags to steer voice qualities and specific emotional deliveries. Alongside these performance controls, the model now supports more than 70 languages.

Industry heavyweights are already running it

Rather than launching in a vacuum, ElevenLabs spent the past few weeks quietly embedding the alpha build into prominent creative software suites.

HeyGen is leveraging Eleven v3 to deliver dynamic multilingual voices across its avatar video production pipelines. Over at Quora's Poe platform, where ElevenLabs models are already the most utilized audio engine, the native speak button now routes text responses directly through the v3 architecture.

AI video editor Captions integrated the new release into its Mirage Studio platform so marketers can generate virtual actors with emotionally reactive voices. Meanwhile, InVideo relies on the model to power end-to-end video creation across over 70 languages.

Why it matters

We think this release signals a clear shift from basic text-to-speech reading toward autonomous voice directing.

For developers building video games, interactive audiobooks, or social agents, the immediate win is workflow compression. You no longer need to manage complex orchestration pipelines just to have two characters debate each other in natural cadence. If your application relies heavily on dynamic spoken interactions, testing this API now is a no-brainer.

For the broader AI ecosystem, single-voice clones are becoming table stakes. ElevenLabs is moving the goalposts toward real-time multi-agent conversation dynamics, forcing competitors to rethink how their audio models parse context and speaker turns.

Shipping directly to distribution partners like HeyGen and Poe from day one is brilliant strategy because it guarantees immediate API volume. That said, keeping the alpha label is telling. Multi-speaker generation is notoriously prone to hallucinated voice drift and awkward crosstalk under heavy loads, so developers should keep an eye on edge-case stability before deploying it into critical live production.
