ElevenLabs is giving startups 11M free voice characters

Published Reach 36

ElevenLabs just launched ElevenLabs Grants to give early-stage startups 11 million free text and dubbing characters per month for three months. To qualify, companies must have fewer than 25 employees and detail their AI voice integration plans, with the company distributing over 100 billion characters in the first wave.

For early-stage teams building voice products, API bills often pile up before launch day even arrives.

ElevenLabs just rolled out ElevenLabs Grants, a new initiative designed to hand out free voice credits to early-stage builders.

11 million free characters per month

The bar to qualify is straightforward. Startups must have fewer than 25 employees and outline how they plan to integrate AI voices into their product. The program is open to applicants worldwide.

Accepted companies receive 11 million characters per month for three straight months to build, test, and scale.

ElevenLabs says this first wave of grants will distribute over 100 billion characters across text and dubbing.

After the three months end, founders have options: roll into an enterprise plan at a steep discount, switch to standard pricing, or simply walk away.

Why it matters

If you are building an AI calling agent, a localized game, or an audio translation tool, initial testing costs can eat into scarce funding fast. Giving away 33 million characters over a quarter basically eliminates that prototype tax.

It looks like a very smart land-grab by ElevenLabs. Instead of competing purely on marketing, they are subsidizing the exact developers who might become tomorrow's breakout apps. Once those workflows are wired into ElevenLabs APIs, converting them into paying enterprise customers becomes almost frictionless.
