Drake deletes AI Tupac diss track after legal threat
Drake just took down his Kendrick Lamar diss track "Taylor Made" from X after Tupac Shakur’s estate gave him a 24-hour ultimatum to pull it or get sued. The track used AI-generated vocals mimicking the late rap legend. Why it matters: It’s one of the most high-profile clashes yet over unauthorized AI voice clones in mainstream music.

Drake learned the hard way that using a dead legend's voice has its legal limits.
On April 19th, the Canadian rapper dropped "Taylor Made," a diss track aimed at rival Kendrick Lamar, directly on X. The track featured AI-generated vocals mimicking the late Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg—artists Lamar openly admires.
24 hours to delete or get sued
Tupac's estate wasn't having it. Their lawyers issued Drake an ultimatum: take the track down within 24 hours or face a lawsuit. Drake took the hint and removed the post from his X profile.
The song was never officially released on commercial streaming platforms, meaning it is unclear if Drake made any money from it directly. Still, the track went viral everywhere, marking one of the highest-profile stunts of a mainstream musician toying with voice-cloning tech.
Why it matters
This dispute marks a line in the sand for unauthorized voice cloning. While meme-tier AI covers run wild on TikTok, Drake proved that top-tier stars cannot simply use cloned legends in their high-stakes industry beefs without real legal consequences.
We think Tupac's estate set an important precedent here. As AI vocal generation becomes effortless, the industry will have to aggressively police identity rights, or risk seeing deepfake cameos become an unregulated weapon in pop culture battles.
