Cursor doubles usage for newly invited Teams users

Published Reach 33

Cursor just launched a limited-time perk doubling usage limits for new team invitees. Over the next 30 days, any new users brought onto an existing Cursor Teams workspace will get double the standard allocation for their entire first month.

If you have been looking for an excuse to bring the rest of your engineering team onto Cursor, the timing just got much better.

Cursor CEO Michael Truell announced a new limited-time promotion for Teams users: anyone invited to an existing Teams plan over the next 30 days will receive double the standard usage allowance for their entire first month.

A month of double quotas

The offer is straightforward. Existing Teams members can invite colleagues during this promotional window, and the new invitees immediately get twice the usual quota to test out Cursor's coding workflows.

That means newly onboarded engineers can lean heavily into agent features, complex refactors, and codebase indexing without immediately slamming into usage caps during their trial period.

Why it matters

We think this is a smart, targeted push on team adoption. When developers test a new AI tool, one of the biggest friction points is running out of tokens while still learning how to prompt and configure it properly. Doubling the first-month quota basically eliminates that hesitation.

From a competitive standpoint, the battle among AI code editors is shifting from individual developers to team-wide enterprise seats. Instead of cutting subscription prices, Cursor is using existing power users as distribution channels, relying on bottoms-up network effects to lock entire teams into its ecosystem before competitors can catch up.
