Meta acquires Conductor to build its next-gen coding interface
Coding agent platform Conductor just joined Meta to build what its team calls the next interface for developers. Working alongside MSL, they plan to launch something new early next year. Why it matters: Meta appears to be assembling the pieces for its own AI coding super app.
Another coding agent platform is heading under Big Tech's roof. Conductor, a platform built for running local and cloud coding agents, has officially joined Meta.
The team announced the move alongside ambitious plans to rethink the developer interface entirely.
Big plans for early next year
According to the announcement, the Conductor team is working alongside MSL's Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang to build out this new vision.
While specific feature sets remain under wraps, the team promised something entirely new for developers early next year. The move has quickly sparked speculation that Meta is assembling the pieces for its own AI coding super app.
Why it matters
Meta has established serious influence with its open-source models, but it has largely lacked a flagship, end-to-end development environment to showcase what those models can actually do.
Bringing Conductor in-house gives Meta a tested runtime layer to manage agentic workflows across local and cloud setups. For developers, this could mean getting a dedicated, highly integrated coding surface early next year that natively leverages Meta's AI investments.
