Claude Code just got a built-in sandbox browser
Anthropic just gave the Claude Code desktop app its own in-app sandboxed browser. Claude can now pull up live docs, design mockups, or any site to read, click links, and interact just like it does with local dev servers. Sessions can also be configured to persist between prompts.
Claude Code's desktop app just got a major upgrade: a built-in, sandboxed browser.
Giving Claude eyes on the web
Instead of making you juggle tabs and paste context, Claude can now pull up documentation, design mockups, or any live website directly inside the desktop app.
It doesn't just scrape text. Claude can actually read pages, click through links, and interact with web elements just like it already does with local dev servers. The entire browsing environment is sandboxed, and users can configure whether sessions persist between tasks. The update is live now in the latest desktop release.
Why it matters
For developers living inside the terminal, this cuts out one of the biggest friction points: constantly feeding API docs and UI state back to the model. Claude can now check the docs and inspect local interfaces on its own.
We think Anthropic's approach here is particularly smart. By wrapping web access in a sandboxed, configurable browser, they give the agent room to interact with the web without blowing open local security. It feels like another step toward AI coding tools becoming fully autonomous desktop operators rather than simple code generators.
