Anthropic just gave Claude Code a unified agent dashboard

Published Reach 41

Anthropic launched Agent View in Claude Code, letting developers manage multiple parallel agents straight from a single CLI view. You can now background tasks with /bg, inspect progress across running jobs, and answer decisions inline without drowning in terminal tabs. It is live in Research Preview for Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, and API users.

If you use terminal-based AI coding tools regularly, your desktop probably looks like an absolute mess of tmux splits and forgotten terminal tabs.

Anthropic just rolled out Agent View in Claude Code, giving developers a centralized CLI mission control to manage parallel autonomous coding sessions.

Taming the terminal sprawl

Until now, running multiple Claude instances meant juggling a dozen windows and trying to mentally track which agent was still writing code and which one was waiting for approval.

Agent View fixes that inside the terminal. Press the left arrow key from an active session or run claude agents from your CLI, and you get a unified list of every running session.

Each row shows whether Claude is waiting on your input, a preview of its latest response, and timestamps from your last interaction.

You can also background active tasks on the fly with /bg, or spin up a new headless job straight from scratch using claude --bg.

Instead of full-context switching, you can simply peek at a waiting task, type a quick decision inline, and send the agent back on its way without leaving the list. If you need the full transcript, hitting enter attaches you directly to that session.

Early workflows include dispatching several ideas at once to let Claude open PRs in the background, or keeping long-running loops like PR babysitters visible with their next run times displayed.

Agent View is available as a Research Preview across Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, and API tiers, subject to standard rate limits.

Why it matters

We think this update addresses the biggest bottleneck in agentic coding today, which is managing human attention across multiple autonomous threads.

For engineers, this basically shifts your role from watching an AI type line by line to acting like an engineering manager triaging a queue of ready pull requests. It is definitely worth trying if you already run Claude Code for non-trivial refactors.

The real risk here is rate limits and code review fatigue. Firing off half a dozen background agents is now so frictionless that users might burn through tokens in minutes, only to face an overwhelming pile of diffs that still require manual verification.

Strategically, Anthropic made a smart bet by keeping this strictly inside the CLI instead of forcing developers into a clunky web dashboard. Expect rival terminal coding agents to copy this supervisor pattern quickly.
