Anthropic brings its Claude API skill to JetBrains, Warp, and CodeRabbit
Anthropic just integrated its claude-api skill into CodeRabbit, JetBrains, Resolve AI, and Warp. Originally launched in Claude Code, the tool helps developers automatically handle prompt caching, update agent patterns, and migrate code to new models like Claude Opus 4.7 directly within their IDEs. The skill is also open source on GitHub.

Anthropic's claude-api skill is an open-source development tool designed to teach coding agents how to write production-ready Claude API code without relying on outdated documentation.
First introduced inside the Claude Code command-line tool in March 2026, the skill is now bundled directly into everyday developer environments, including JetBrains IDEs, Warp terminal, CodeRabbit, Resolve AI, and Junie. It eliminates the friction of parsing release notes by embedding official API best practices right where you build.
What the skill handles
At its core, the tool automatically stays up to date as Anthropic's SDKs evolve. When a new parameter drops or a feature is added to the platform, the skill already understands the exact syntax.
Developers can prompt their assistant to improve prompt cache hit rates, applying structural caching rules that are easy to miss manually. It also guides you through context compaction primitives and recommended agent design patterns.
Model upgrades are where it saves the most time. When moving existing projects to Claude Opus 4.7, the skill reviews your repository, updates model strings, switches manual thinking configurations to adaptive thinking, strips deprecated beta headers, and suggests appropriate effort levels. Claude Code users can trigger this directly through the migrate command.
CodeRabbit reports reviewing millions of pull requests weekly where stale API knowledge causes production regressions. Embedding this skill directly into review pipelines and IDEs prevents those mismatches before code ever merges.
How to get it
The skill is ready to use today inside JetBrains IDEs, Warp, CodeRabbit, Resolve AI, and Junie. It requires no special local hardware since it runs inside your supported coding assistant.
For teams building their own coding agents, Anthropic has open-sourced the skill under anthropics/skills on GitHub. A setup guide demonstrates how to integrate the skill into custom agent workflows using roughly 20 lines of continuous integration configuration, keeping external tools synced automatically.
Why it matters
Any engineering team actively building on Anthropic's platform should enable this immediately. It replaces brittle manual doc hunting with inline guidance, cutting down review-time surprises during version upgrades.
Instead of treating API updates as passive markdown files, packaging SDK knowledge as a pluggable, open-source skill represents a much smarter distribution model. It significantly lowers the friction of adopting frontier capabilities like Opus 4.7 while reinforcing Anthropic's ecosystem inside the daily developer workflow.
