ChatGPT Work can now log into websites for you without seeing credentials

Published Reach 43

ChatGPT just rolled out a new capability for ChatGPT Work that lets its built-in browser log into websites on web and mobile without ever seeing your username or password. Users can now delegate real-world errands like booking appointments, handling insurance reimbursements, or submitting invoices. It basically gives your AI agent hands to tackle authenticated web tasks without compromising security.

The single biggest roadblock stopping AI agents from actually doing our chores has always been the login screen. Handing over your passwords feels reckless, but without them, the bot is stuck outside.

ChatGPT Work can now log into third-party websites on your behalf using its built-in browser on web and mobile. The crucial detail here is that ChatGPT never sees your username or password. The feature is rolling out now to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Business subscribers.

Passing off the internet's most tedious chores

With credential-free logins in place, practical delegation finally becomes possible.

Users can hand off administrative headaches like booking DMV or passport appointments, or finding an in-network doctor that fits your schedule. It can also restock household items simply from a photo, schedule package returns, submit insurance claims, or help small business owners fill out permit applications and push email invoices directly into accounting software.

Why it matters

We think this is one of the smartest product moves OpenAI has made for everyday utility. Trust has been the ultimate chokepoint for AI agents, and solving the login step without exposing raw credentials removes massive friction for normal users.

If you already pay for a subscription, it is well worth testing on low-stakes bureaucracy like scheduling or tracking expenses. That said, privacy is only half the battle. Even if the AI never sees your password, letting an agent act inside your authenticated accounts raises the stakes on hallucinations, especially if it misinterprets a form or cancels the wrong booking.
