ChatGPT is testing custom templates to copy your personal writing style

Getting an AI to sound like a human usually takes paragraphs of careful prompting, and even then, that polished corporate vibe rarely goes away completely.

OpenAI looks ready to fix that. Leaked web UI shared by developer Tibor Blaho shows ChatGPT is testing a new "Templates" feature designed to copy how you actually write.

Uploading old drafts to clone your voice

The feature lets users upload past emails, articles, or personal documents to serve as stylistic training data.

ChatGPT will then automatically extract your tone, sentence structures, and favorite phrasing into a reusable writing template. The next time you need an email or a memo drafted, you can just apply your preset instead of wrestling with prompt engineering from scratch.

The leak also spotted an "Animate" button that sends static generated images straight into a video generation tool with movement prompts pre-filled, plus a dedicated email drafting mode complete with CC/BCC fields and Markdown export. The features are currently in closed testing with no general release date yet.

Why it matters

Raw benchmark scores only go so far when users still spend half their time telling the chatbot to stop sounding like a press release.

Custom instructions helped, but describing your own writing style in words is surprisingly hard. Letting the model simply read your past work and reverse-engineer your quirks is a much more natural way to personalize the tool.

We think this is a smart, defensible move for OpenAI. Turning ChatGPT from a generic text generator into an assistant that naturally mirrors your personal voice makes the product dramatically stickier for daily office work.
