Bigscreen Beyond 2 packs eye tracking into a 107-gram VR headset

If you have ever spent more than an hour in a standard VR headset, you know the dreaded neck strain and face squeeze. Bigscreen made waves by shrinking PC VR down to pocket size, and now its sequel is taking things even further.

Shedding weight down to 107 grams

Bigscreen just launched the Bigscreen Beyond 2, cutting another 16% off its predecessor to hit a featherweight 107 grams.

Despite the tiny footprint, it packs dual 2560x2560 micro-OLED displays with revamped optics. Bigscreen is promising a 116-degree field of view, edge-to-edge clarity, a significantly larger sweet spot, reduced glare, and better brightness.

More importantly, Bigscreen fixed the original's biggest friction points. Beyond 2 adds eye tracking, built-in adjustable IPD, a new Halo mount, and a universal-fit lightseal. That means you no longer need custom facial scans just to share the headset with friends. It still relies on SteamVR tracking, with pre-orders open now and first shipments starting in April 2025.

Why it matters

For PC VR enthusiasts and virtual hangout regulars, shaving weight down to 107 grams while keeping high-res micro-OLEDs makes long-haul sessions actually comfortable.

We think Bigscreen's smartest move here was addressing shareability. The original Beyond was an engineering marvel, but non-adjustable IPD and bespoke cushions essentially killed resale value and casual sharing. Adding eye tracking and physical adjustments while somehow making the headset 16% lighter is a masterclass in industrial packaging. It is still a tethered device tethered to base stations, but for high-end PC VR, it just set a very high bar for comfort.
