Anthropic lands $30B mega-round at $380B valuation
Anthropic just closed a massive $30 billion Series G round led by GIC and Coatue, pushing its post-money valuation to $380 billion. The company revealed a $14 billion annualized revenue run rate, with Claude Code generating over $2.5 billion and authoring 4% of all public GitHub commits. Why it matters: Anthropic is parlaying its commanding lead in enterprise coding into an unprecedented cash pile to fund next-gen compute infrastructure.

The frontier AI funding race just reached another stratosphere.
Anthropic officially announced a massive $30 billion Series G round on Thursday, pushing its post-money valuation to $380 billion. That is more than double its $183 billion valuation from Series F. Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC and Coatue led the monster round, joined by a huge lineup of co-leads including D. E. Shaw Ventures, Dragoneer, Founders Fund, ICONIQ, and MGX, alongside Sequoia, Jane Street, and tech giants Microsoft and Nvidia.
The timing is electric. Competitor OpenAI was recently reported to be hunting for an eye-watering $100 billion round that could push its own valuation past $830 billion. The high-stakes chess match between the two AI frontrunners is no longer about billions—it is about hundreds of billions.
Claude Code is minting billions
Anthropic backed up its dizzying valuation with some of the fastest-growing revenue numbers Silicon Valley has ever seen.
Less than three years after booking its first dollar, Anthropic says its run-rate revenue has crossed $14 billion, growing 10x annually for three consecutive years. Enterprise adoption is exploding: customers spending over $100,000 annually jumped 7x in the past year, while those spending over $1 million surpassed 500. Eight out of the Fortune 10 are now paying customers.
The undisputed growth engine here is Claude Code. Released to the general public in May 2025, the agentic coding tool has already reached a run-rate revenue of more than $2.5 billion. Its revenue and weekly active users have both doubled just since January 1, while enterprise subscriptions quadrupled. In fact, a recent analysis estimated that 4% of all public commits on GitHub worldwide are now written by Claude Code—doubling its share in a single month.
Anthropic is rapidly taking that coding engine and aiming it at the rest of enterprise work. In January alone, the company shipped over thirty features, including Cowork, which provides eleven open-source plugins to turn Claude into an agent for sales, legal, or finance workflows.
The multi-cloud survival playbook
Anthropic is also leaning into its identity as the Switzerland of frontier AI.
Fresh off last week's release of Opus 4.6—which currently leads the GDPval-AA benchmark for complex knowledge work—Anthropic emphasized that Claude remains the only frontier model available across AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure Foundry.
Its hardware setup follows the same playbook. Instead of locking itself exclusively to Nvidia GPUs, Anthropic trains and runs workloads across AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and Nvidia chips. That diversification keeps infrastructure resilient and prevents any single cloud partner from choking its supply.
Why it matters
For engineering teams and tech leaders, this round removes any doubt about Claude's staying power. If you have been on the fence about building production workflows on Claude Code or the Opus APIs, the financial buffer and enterprise commitments are as solid as it gets. When 4% of all public code commits on GitHub are being generated by a single AI product, agentic software engineering is no longer an experiment; it is the default.
In our view, Anthropic played its cards brilliantly by anchoring itself deeply in enterprise engineering and code, rather than chasing speculative consumer hype. Hitting a $14 billion run-rate in under three years shows real, sticky enterprise utility that many AI platforms still struggle to prove.
The real danger lies in the sheer scale of this arms race. With OpenAI chasing an $830 billion market cap and computing costs multiplying with every generation, Anthropic will burn through billions just staying in the ring. A $380 billion valuation leaves virtually no room for execution errors, but for now, Anthropic has secured the war chest it needs to define the agentic era.
