Claude brings computer use to Windows
Anthropic just expanded its computer use feature to Windows across Claude Cowork and Claude Code Desktop. The capability allows Claude to directly navigate desktop apps, browse the web, and fill out spreadsheets. Previously limited to a macOS research preview, Windows users can now let the AI agent handle hands-on desk work.

Anthropic just expanded its computer use feature to Windows, landing inside Claude Cowork and Claude Code Desktop.
Until now, the capability was locked to macOS as a research preview. If you wanted Claude to navigate your desktop like a human coworker, you had to be inside Apple's ecosystem.
Hands on the keyboard and mouse
The feature basically allows Claude to see and interact directly with your computer's interface.
It can launch apps, browse the web, and fill out spreadsheets—handling the routine clicking and typing you would normally do sitting at your desk.
Rolling this out to both the productivity-focused Claude Cowork and the developer-oriented Claude Code Desktop gives both office workers and engineers direct interface automation on Windows.
Why it matters
We think this is the distribution leap computer use needed to become practical. Mac support made for impressive demos, but the vast majority of real-world enterprise desks run on Windows.
For users, automating cross-app grunt work without writing custom code or relying on native APIs is a major upgrade. The catch is that letting an AI freely click around an active operating system still brings obvious misclick risks.
Still, Anthropic just plugged its biggest platform gap, setting a high bar for any rival building desktop-level agents.
