Adobe just brought Flux.2 Pro into Photoshop as a new partner model for Generative Fill. Users can now tap directly into Flux's generative capabilities alongside Adobe's native tools, giving editors more model flexibility for inpainting and scene expansion right inside their canvas.

Adobe Photoshop users now have another heavyweight option for AI edits.

According to AI creator Kris Kashtanova and Adobe's Paul Trani, Black Forest Labs' Flux.2 Pro has been officially integrated into Photoshop as a model option for Generative Fill.

More choice inside Generative Fill

Instead of being locked into Adobe's default engine, users can now select Flux.2 Pro directly when filling, expanding, or replacing elements in their canvas.

Trani shared practical use cases showing off the integration, emphasizing that it expands the roster of partner models available directly within the desktop workflow.

Why it matters

Photoshop is protecting its home turf.

While Adobe built Firefly with a heavy focus on commercial safety, many creators still preferred third-party models for complex realism. Forcing users to bounce back and forth between external web UIs and Photoshop was an obvious friction point.

By bringing Flux.2 Pro directly into Generative Fill, Adobe keeps users anchored inside its software. For pros, it means top-tier inpainting power without breaking their existing creative rhythm.
