1X unveils NEO Beta humanoid helper robot
Robotics startup 1X just unveiled NEO Beta, a new bipedal humanoid robot designed specifically for home environments. The company bills it as built for daily domestic living, though deeper hardware specs and rollout plans have not yet been shared.

Robotics company 1X officially revealed NEO Beta, a new humanoid helper robot designed specifically for domestic environments.
The reveal was short and focused. The company introduced the machine with a single core premise: "Designed for humans. Built for the home."
Stepping into the living room
1X has not yet shared detailed hardware specifications, pricing, or commercial availability dates for the new model.
As the Beta moniker suggests, the robot is currently positioned as an early validation and testing build. While many humanoid makers prioritize industrial warehouses and factory floors, 1X is explicitly targeting household utility from the start.
Why it matters
We think aiming straight for the living room is an ambitious gamble. Industrial settings are controlled and predictable, which makes automation far easier to manage.
Homes, by contrast, are messy and dynamic. A domestic helper must navigate shifting furniture, tight spaces, and unpredictable interactions without presenting any safety hazards to people.
While the concept is compelling, we have yet to see detailed demonstrations of NEO Beta performing complex household chores or evidence of an accessible price point. It signals an exciting shift toward home robotics, but widespread adoption remains a distant milestone.
